Parent Training and Support

Raising a child was never meant to be a journey parents walk alone. At The Milestone Centre, we give parents support in three key ways: through structured training, through community, and through early guidance for young mothers navigating it all for the first time.
1. Parent Training Program
It starts with equipping you. When we worked at other special needs institutes, we noticed a heartbreaking pattern: parents were left in the waiting area, disconnected from the breakthroughs happening inside the therapy room and once home, felt unequipped to manage meltdowns or continue progress, leading to frustration for the whole family. We built The Milestone Centre to permanently close that gap.
Our Parent Training Program is not a generic lecture or handout. It's an intensive, hands-on program designed to turn you from a bystander into your child's most effective advocate and co-therapist, using the exact tools and strategies our clinical experts use.
What You Will Learn
- Continuing Therapy at Home: Turning everyday moments into therapy opportunities, so the strategies your child practices in session carry over naturally into daily routines rather than staying confined to the therapy room.
- Positive Reinforcement: Identifying what truly motivates your child and building a reward system that encourages cooperation.
- De-escalating Big Behaviors & Meltdowns: Understanding the function behind a behavior, adjusting home routines proactively, and calming emotional or sensory overload with confidence.
- Driving Communication at Home: Prompting speech during meals, playtime, and bedtime so your child is practicing communication all day.
2. Parent Support Groups
Once you have the tools, you need people who understand what it takes to use them. Raising a child with Autism, ADHD, IDD, or learning difficulties can feel incredibly isolating. While family and friends may care, it's often hard for them to truly understand the daily realities, quiet anxieties, and unique victories that come with your role. Our Parent Support Groups are a safe, judgment-free space where you can step out of the waiting room and into a community that truly gets it.
Why Join
- Shared Experiences: Realizing your frustration, grief, hope, or exhaustion is valid and shared by others walking the same path
- Expert Guidance: Sessions facilitated by certified therapists, offering professional insight, coping mechanisms, and answers to your questions
- Practical Strategy Swapping: Real, home-tested tips from parents who've "been there" on meltdowns, school advocacy, and daily transitions
- A Focus on You: Space where the focus shifts from your child's milestones to your own wellbeing and self-care
3. Young Mothers Program
Motherhood today comes with pressures no generation before has had to navigate quite the same way: raising a child in a world of screens, shifting social norms, and constant comparison, often while still learning who you are as a mother yourself.
Our Young Mothers Program is designed specifically for mothers of infants and young children, offering guidance through this formative stage, not just on child development, but on parenthood itself. We help young mothers understand their child's early world while also becoming the confident, present, and informed parent that today's child actually needs.
What We Cover
- Early Developmental Milestones: Understanding what's typical at each stage, and when a concern is worth a professional look.
- Navigating Modern Parenthood: Practical guidance on raising a child in today's world, from screen time and social pressures to setting boundaries with confidence.
- Maternal Wellbeing: Support for postpartum adjustment, exhaustion, and the emotional weight of early motherhood.
- Early Bonding & Stimulation: Simple, practical ways to support language, sensory, and emotional development from infancy.
